Discover the Magic: The Story Behind Our Handcrafted Gemstone Jewelry
It all started with a trip to a remote gemstone market. As I held a raw agate in my hand, I realized these stones weren’t just beautiful. They carried centuries of history and energy. That’s when Bacuner was born: to bring the magic and story of natural semi-precious gemstones into everyday life.
More meaningful design
In 2015, my studio smelled of burnt coffee and despair. My designs are filled with the “timeless classics” that my clients ask for – those shiny round cuts, those perfectly symmetrical claw settings, those copy-and-paste arrangements of diamonds. The difference may be just a slight 0.5 mm, and I could hardly tell them apart.

Until one late night, when I was revising the same design for the thousandth time. An email sent by mistake came into my inbox: “Xizang Qamdo Mineral Market, purchase of uncut moonstone.” I looked out the window, and the moon glows brightly, yet shadowed, like a huge, lonely gem.
In that moment, I realized: I would rather design a thousand imperfect gemstones than polish one more “perfect” diamond.
I put down my blueprints, used the vacation funds I had saved for two years, and bought a plane ticket to my Shangri-La.
gemstone have the best stories
At the foot of Songtsamlin Monastery, 3,700 meters above sea level.
An elderly man in a purplish red Tibetan robe spread yak felt on the ground, which was strewn with lapis lazis – as blue as if he had torn a corner of Kailash’s night sky.

He picked up a stone covered with white calcite lines. “They have the best stories in their cracks, Miss.” he said, his words laced with the aroma of butter tea. “This line… it’s from the avalanches of the Tanggula Mountains, the god’s whip left a mark”
I listened to him talk about how the purple lithium in Chaka Salt Lake cracked the lotus-shaped gullies during the dry season, and how the tiger’s eye from the Nujiang Valley had been washed out by the rapids, forming lines like a cat’s pupil.
As the setting sun dyed the snow-capped mountains amber, he pushed a rough red agate into my palm. “People always want to cut the cleanest ring,” he said, “but they don’t know that the stone is most beautiful when it’s alive.”
That night, the red agate glowed in the firelight like a trapped sunset. I opened the kit I had brought with me, and tried to string the imperfect lapis lazuli gemstone bead.
Why Bacuner Exist
Bacuner was born not in a boardroom, but at the intersection of tradition and rebellion.
Each piece of gemstone jewelry is crafted from carefully selected stones sourced from the mining market. They bear the marks of nature—not like the perfect cut precious stones as pure, but with no two pieces being the same. They are handmade, freely combinable, and cannot be copied. These unique creations belong only to you.

The first customer was a travel photographer. She grabbed the Bohemian handmade necklace strung with lapis lazuli, and suddenly her eyes welled up. “These cracks… It looks like the glacier fault I took when I broke my rib.”
Today, when someone asks me why I don’t use a “more delicate” gem, I hand him a magnifying glass and show them the cotton wool and cracks within the stone. “Look, this stone contains an aurora older than the Mayan civilization.”

At Bacuner, we don’t just sell jewelry. We’re weaving the fault lines of the Grand Canyon, the erosion lines of national parks, and the frequency of your heart into the same thread.”
