   I do like the natural stones look of the beads in this necklace: the stones have a lot of personality, different hues and a lot of variation and imperfections in shape, easily visible, no attempt to hide the raw variations. The grey beads have good transparency and do not have the usual bands of onyx, to me it looks like smoky quartz but I cannot go beyond look to ascertain. Still, beautiful natural stones and a very stylish combination of hues.

   This is a nice piece. I’d prefer sterling findings, BUT with the weight of this much natural stone, stainless is probably the better choice. The finishing could be finer, but I appreciate the fact that they’ve used multiple strands again due to the weight of the stones. Don’t misunderstand – you’re not going to be hauling an albatross, but for longevity, natural stone needs to be treated very differently than plastic, for example, to be sure that it holds up over years of wear. A tiny bit of weight over years and years adds up in terms of wear and tear on the findings, and you need to plan for that on the front end.

   The length here is right at 20″, with no up or down extenders – and it’s toggle clasp, so you may not be able to find an extender easily if you want it longer. The current length will be plenty for many women and many men, for that matter.
